Our Projects

Building the Ellis Hollow apartments has been a family affair. Ann designed the buildings, selecting (and fetching to the jobsite) all the finish materials, paints and appliances, and lending a hand wherever help was needed, from pouring concrete, doing much of the finish painting, and making runs to the dump with trash.

Charlie was brains and brawn
behind the projects, overseeing the
construction, figuring construction supplies,
and doing the actual building as well. Our son
Shawn worked full time along with us, and son
Ben pitched in during the summers and on winter
break from college.

Clearing lot 1682 entailed a great deal of chainsaw work. We ended up with large piles of black locust, some of which we will eventually saw into flooring, and the rest is for sale as fence posts and rails.

Charlie and Shawn are
shown sawing trees salvaged from ice storm
damage using a Turner Band Saw. Lumber will
be for a future building project.
Charlie Leonard

Charlie's "free time" passion is long distance running, and not just your hop, skip and jump marathon, either. A "short race" is 50k or 32 miles, it isn't unusual for him to run a 40 or 50 mile run, and he has successfully completed a 100 mile run as well. Races take up the least amount of time: training for these "ultras" as they are called, takes many hours, and miles of training.

Ann rides her mare Lady Jane, a 23 year old registered Morgan horse, in competitive trail rides around the state. Most of their training for these races takes place right alongside Charlie's... it's the only way Ann can keep up with him!
